Magnificent six complete epic trek for Kirkwood Hospice (from kirkwood Hospice's website)
13th October 2015
Our fantastic trekkers - John, James, Ben, Matt, Pete and David - have completed their epic 106 mile challenge for Kirkwood Hospice.
As you may have previously read, the guys faced lowland moors, dense woodland, rolling hills and high mountainous regions in the Scottish Highlands during their epic expedition. They completed the exhausting trek in just 4 days, which equates to walking the distance of a marathon per day across rugged terrain.
John, who initially came up with the idea of taking part in the trek in loving memory of his Father-in-Law, Chris, said “I broke a bone in my foot two weeks prior to the start of the challenge and Pete suffered two stress fractures during the trek itself. However, giving up was never an option. We all carried a picture of Chris during the trek to keep us going, and we managed to cross the finish line together as we set out to do.
“There was a very special moment at the end when James proposed to his girlfriend, Becci, with a ring that he had shown to Chris before he died. This provided us with a perfect ending to our adventure.”
Well done guys! Everyone at the Hospice is extremely proud of you.
